Story Hour Kit Description:
Raj is a confident marmalade cat parading through his owner’s story hours believing that he is a tiger (as that is what his  owner always calls him).  When a visiting cat cuts Raj down with bullying words, Raj falls into a funk.  It takes a recitation on William Blake’s famous feliine poem to bring Raj back to himself.

The Story Hour kit allows your readers to play at being Raj by creating Raj tiger hats. Through a simple game (complete with a suggested script), you can help readers learn what words make Raj self-assured and what words make Raj lose faith.  Each one of your readers can walk away with a poem card with Blake’s transformative poem, “Tyger, Tyger.”

Story Hour Kit Contents:

• Tiger dress-up craft to make tiger hat
• Simple game of “tigerish” (or bully-free) words

Event Description:
TOO MANY FROGS!
A  Read-Aloud Event for Seniors and Children

Seniors, Nanas, and Papas are invited to come to an event with children or grandchildren of their own or to meet children in the community.  Children (ages 3-7) and families are invited to this event with or without their grandparents.  Together we will be reading Too Many Frogs! by John and Ann Hassett, the tale of a clever senior citizen and the kids in her neighborhood who save a group of “thump-thump-bonking” frogs.  Together, we will play a game to rescue some pretend frogs and learn how to protect frogs in real life.

About the Event Kit:
This event kit has the following components:
• A cross generational event invitation and a poster for senior citizens and families with young children (ages 3-7) that mirrors the partnership of the senior citizen character, Nana Quimby, with the book’s neighborhood children.
• A frog finding / rescuing game that mirrors Nana Quimby and the children’s successful rescue of the frogs in Nana’s cellar.
•  A take away sheet that tells adults and children how to help frogs by simple conservation acts at home.
• A tea party social that mirrors the book’s final scene of eating cake with froggy friends.
• A coloring sheet.
